Skateboarding has inspired Isaac and I to do this project. We also wanted to do this because a lot of people don’t realize how many people struggle to buy their skateboards. Also, they are like everybody else and if everybody else can have what they need they also have the right to have it to. We haven’t changed much since we thought of this but the only big change was that we will be giving complete skateboards. We had originally said it was only going to be the deck. Also, we will have a pizza party when we take the boards to the kids. This project has brought me a lot of knowledge on how skateboards are made. We haven’t really struggled with a lot. We did struggle with design ideas because we will also give four boards to girls. I am very proud that i got to work with Isaac on this. Also i am also proud of the result of our build because I didn’t think the boards would be as good as they came out. I got to collaborate with my fifth grade teacher because he helped Isaac and I find the kids that we will give boards to. Our result was better than I thought. I learned that when I feel very passionate about something I tend to work harder on it than on anything else. We have progressed a lot and the process we had interests me because we made our boards way different than a professional company would.
Over spring break Isaac and I will make our last board. We will also grip all the boards. We have also decided to give a board to a smaller kid. We will also start putting our designs in color on to the boards.
Making skateboards is very fun. Its amusing because i love to skateboarding. When you get to go through the process of making something you love it show you the roots of it all. Making skateboards is very exciting because i get to do it with a very good friend, Isaac. Isaac and I like skateboarding and thats another reason why we decided to help through skateboarding. The most exciting thing is to see our result because we really want to accomplish our goal of helping those who need help. I think people will be surprised in a good way on how well we made our boards. The reason is that the money it takes a real skateboard company to make a skateboard is a very big number and we are able to make a lot for so much less. We are very proud of what he have so far which is six skateboards and we will start to put our graphic on the boards.
Skateboarding. Will it really help? I think so. Were trying to make something out of something we love. We’ve been working on just getting all the supplies and were very close to having all the supplies. We need seven more maple veneer sheets. We have all the glue. We are lucky we have a friend that had a press. This makes our job easier and makes the quality of our decks much better. We still need to make the rest of the decks because we’ve only made 3. We also need to put designs on the decks. We still do not have a design. We are most likely to use, “Life is Tough, but im Tougher” because we feel they can really relate to this because they go through hard times. Although they face hard times they always find a way to not get into trouble because they stick to skateboarding. Also we decided that we would not be able to make shirts because we have used around $80 on just the skateboards so we feel that we can just make the boards because thats mainly what are goal is. We have not really been thinking about the final presentation. I do have one idea and it is to try to have one of the skaters we give a board to, to come and tell us about the help we brought. If we can’t get someone to come I think that we should at least go to them and interview them. Some question ideas are, “ Did we help at all by giving you this board? “ Also, “ Has skateboarding kept you out of trouble? If so, why?” We also realized that we still need to get a lot of sheets of griptape. We are also thinking that we can put the grip on before we give it to them. Also we want to give out a couple of tools so they can set up their boards. We were also thinking of having a skate sesh, when you are skating, with them. We are really looking forward to talk to them and bring them their present. We also found a place where we can donate some boards. There is a charity here you send decks, truck, wheels, hardware, griptape, or bearings. Although we are only making decks we can still only send a couple of decks. This charity is called, “Boards For Bro’s” They have been up since 2006. Their charity is run by multiple skateboarding professional’s. Also we wanted to say that we are probably making more than 10 decks. The reason that we are probably making more decks is that our process is much faster now that we have found a press. We have also found places in Sunnyvale and Mountain View where there is homeless teenage skateboarders. We hope for the best to come out of this project. As you may see we are shooting for the best in this 20 % project.
As I have said before my goal is to help teenage homeless skaters by making boards and handing them out. So far Isaac and I have been staking up on supplies. Our supplies are maple wood veener and tightbond glue. We also need to get rollers to spread the glue. We've managed to get a friend to let us borrow his press. We will be getting together this weekend to make one off the boards just to see how it will work and if it will even work. This is what we've got done so far but will be getting way more done.
As i grew up I was interested in soccer so much that i thought i would be the next Messi. Then i realized i was in to boxing. Boxing has gave me more courage. The reason i got courage is that im not the biggest 8th grader, im only five feet. I would be messed with because i was small but boxing made me stronger and now i could mess with them but i dont i help the small ones. Boxing has also helped stay out of trouble because i use my time on boxing and school. Almost everybody is the same joining gangs smoking but im still here puting in work to be able to help my family out of poverty. Also if i had all the time and money in the world i would use it to help everybody out of poverty even if they have aleast a little bit. The reason for this is that my parents grew up being really poor and they couldnt go to school but still managed to keep me, my sister and brothers safe. Also they are still able to show their children respect and they support us on what we want to do. One thing i want to point out is that my mom wasent really a big fan of me joining boxing but she saw that i loved it and delt with it to keep me happy.
In the world there is so many problems and the one that stands out to me is poverty. Poverty has become so big because people couldnt learn or keep jobs which makes them poor. If i could fix this i would enroll people that couldnt finished school to a school so they can atleast finish and get a job and maybe die happy. Also, i would help people get a place to live so they dont get sick living on the dirty streets. I think everybody in the world needs money. The reason is that everybody cant live with out money but at the same time you cant just have a little bit because it cant keep you alive. This means that everybody should have the chance to get the best possible education. My school has a club named ACT and if i had a chance to make a club it would be similar to ACT. The reason is that they help poor people . I want to help poor people because they deserve what a person that has money has. Just because their poor dosent mean they cant have what a wealthy person has. I really havent done anything to like this but it would be a great experience. There is many great people in this world but one person that stands out for me is Julio Cesar Chavez. The reason is that when he was a little kid he joined boxing like me. Also he made it big, he was one of the greatest and scence he made it big he got wealthy and used his wealth to help his famiiy out of poverty. Another thing i admire about him is that he had many more chances to make him bigger but these chances could have ended his life but he still said yes becuase he would gain wealth and better life for his family that were coming close to an end because they were ageing. He once said he wanted to have his elders to die happy because of him. Help. I want to help. Teenagers that are homeless. Do you think they really want, "Homeless Not Hopeless" on their t-shirts? I don't think so. Well im very psyched on this project because i have everything i need and they should to. The reason they also deserve it is that they dont have parents to ask for McDonalds or In-N-Out. Also they are exactly the same as everybody else in the world. I was also thinking that instead of us coming up with the ideas. We can ask them for seuggestions. This will help us make our project the best it can be. People in my class helped me decide if," Homeless Not Hopeless" was appropiate for a teenager. The reason this really isint appropiate is that they would be put down by people that think the are rich. We want to help get them up not down. Supplies. We finally got our skateboard glue and maple wood venere. We also found a friend that has the press to make the boards. This is making our job way easier. Also we are changeing the design on our shirts. Before we were going to put ' Homeless not Hopeless ' but we don't think that they wouldnt like that because people could judge them or bully them. So we are now puting, ' Life Is Tough.... Im Thougher ' because this says something that nobody can say anything bad about. This is all we've done so far and will be done very soon. |
